Cookie Policy
Last updated: 15 October 2026
In short.
- The home page asks whether it may set cookies for visit statistics. Without your yes, no such cookie is set.
- The app, the web app and the legal pages set no statistics or advertising cookies.
- You can change your choice at any time under Cookie-Einstellungen (cookie settings) at the bottom of the home page.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. The browser's local storage works in a similar way. This policy treats both alike and says what KantiNotes stores on your device and why.
2. Necessary storage
The app and website do not work without these entries. We do not ask for your consent to them.
| What | Where | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign-in session | Web app and app, kept by Firebase Authentication | Keeps you signed in | Until you sign out |
| Language, theme, sign-up progress | Web app and app | Remembers your settings | Until you change them or clear the app's data |
kantinotes:consent | Home page | Remembers your answer in the cookie banner, so it does not appear on every visit | Until you clear the site's data in your browser |
3. Statistics cookies: Google Analytics
Only on the home page (kantinotes.web.app), and only if you click Akzeptieren (accept) in the banner. Nothing is loaded from Google before that. It shows us how many people visit the page and where they come from.
| Cookie | Provider | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Tells visitors apart with a random ID | 2 years | |
_ga_… | Keeps the state of the current visit | 2 years |
If you agree, Google receives your IP address and the pages you view, the time of the visit, the site you came from, your device, your browser and your approximate location. Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. Google Signals and ad personalisation are switched off: the data is not linked to your Google account and is not used for advertising. Google keeps it for 2 months.
The provider is Google Ireland Limited, which may pass the data to Google LLC in the USA. For that we rely on the Swiss–US Data Privacy Framework, under which Google is certified. The legal basis is your consent. See also Google's privacy policy.
4. Changing your choice
Under Cookie-Einstellungen (cookie settings) at the bottom of the home page you can change your answer at any time. If you withdraw your consent, the Google Analytics cookies are deleted and nothing more is loaded from Google. What was collected before stays lawful. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser's settings.
5. Advertising
We do not use cookies or similar technologies for advertising, and we do not let anyone else do so. If we ever add other optional cookies, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.
6. Changes and contact
The date at the top shows the latest version. How we handle your data otherwise, and how to reach us, is in the Privacy Policy. This policy exists in German and English. If the two differ, the German version prevails.
